Scientific paper

The paper examines the equilibrium of a rotating plasma in a gravitational field with reference to astrophysical processes. In the case of dense plasmas the combination of magnetic and gravitational fields is shown to cause a charge redistribution in the plasma; the magnetic poles are charged positively and the equatorial regions are charged negatively. The emission angle of bremsstrahlung from the plasma in the polar regions is calculated. The analysis is used to calculate the initial magnetic field for the pulsar NP 0532.
