The present status of knowledge of the Sun's chemical composition is reviewed. Photospheric, chromospheric and coronal abundances of the different elements are first studied separately and then compared to check the chemical homogeneity of the solar atmosphere. Photospheric abundances are also compared with those of the carbonaceous chondrites to get information on the chemical composition of the primordial nebula from which the solar system originated.
