In this study the cyclotron spectra from accretion column of magnetic cataclysmic variable star AM Her is deduced and compared with the observed one. Besides, the R-band light curves of the systems are presented with their results. AM Herculis systems are a subclass of magnetic cataclysmic variables which are known as polars. They are close binaries with a red dwarf component and magnetic white dwarf primary star. The component star, having filled its Roche lobe donates mass to its magnetic primary star. The high magnetic field intensity of the WD star prevents the formation of an accretion disk and flowing matter from the component confined into an accretion column at the magnetic pole/s of the primary star. Because of the high magnetic field intensity, dynamical properties of accreting matter are determined by Lorentz forces. Close to the magnetic polar region of primary star, charged particles seek their respective mirror points; this is the region where the cyclotron emission is most intensely emitted. The waves propagate more or less perpendicularly to the external magnetic field lines. Hence, the radiation is assumed to be in either extraordinary or ordinary modes. Therefore, the electron velocity distribution function is assumed to be bi-Maxwellian. After some calculations we determined the energy flux of both wave modes of the system and compared them with the observed one. All the cyclotron harmonics are reproduced at almost their observed central wavelengths. The R-band light curves of AM Her obtained with 1.5m Russian-Turkish telescope are presented. The light curves show short term brightness variations besides the non-periodic long term brightness variations of the system. The observations of polars are important in order to understand the physical reasons of these variations.
