Photelectric observations of the semi-detached binary system XY Cep were made during 25 nights from 1973 to 1978, using the 56 cm (RCA 1P21 uncooled photomultiplier) and 104 cm (EMI 6094S photomultiplier cooled to -20 C) reflectors. Light and color curves and a total of 1487 observations in the UBV, converted to standard differential magnitudes are presented. The colors of the components indicate that the primary component belongs to the main sequence, while the secondary component lies well above the (B-V)0 and (U-B)0 diagram for main sequence. Evaluation of Roche constants revealed C0 equalling 3.83, which is near C2 (equal to 3.6); thus the secondary component has almost filled its Roche lobe, while C1 equalling 9.0 is much higher than C0 and the primary is well inside its Roche lobe.
