UBV observations of HD 80383 show conclusively that this is a Beta Cephei variable of rather great maximum B amplitude equal to 0.165 mag. A first discussion of amplitude changes and instantaneous periods suggests superposition of two sine waves resulting in a primary period of 0.18465 d and a beat period of 10.075 d. The times of maxima, however, cannot be calculated uniformly by such a simple model.
