The mathematical theory of thin galactic disks of finite radius is presented in the form of a single surface-density integral which generalizes Toomre’s well-known formula obtained in the case of infinite disks. We also give a very simple formula for the total mass of the finite galactic disk, and introduce a new two-parameter family of flat rotation curves which admits a fully analytic description.
