The Galactic Plane Infrared Polarization Survey (GPIPS) is halfway through the data acquisition phase with an estimated quarter million stellar polarizations measured. This quantity of data requires a robust, efficient, and accurate automated data pipeline. To test and refine our pipeline, we have created a tool to generate synthetic GPIPS images that accurately reproduce the signal, noise, image, and stellar properties of the real survey data from the Mimir instrument. We have used the synthetic images to investigate several issues of data analysis and calibration, including the robustness of the analysis, the instrumental polarization across the FOV, and the best ways to implement magnitude and polarization cuts to maximize data quality and throughput. Additionally, we have used this tool to investigate specific issues that have appeared in preliminary data analysis, including the anomalously high polarizations seen for low signal-to-noise stars, and the preservation of the polarization signal in the presence of stellar crowding.
