The stochastic self propagating star formation (SSPSF) model is modified
by assuming that a star is formed if a neighbouring star explodes. This
is a more reasonable assumption than the original model. The basic
features of SSPSF are shown to be preserved hence one still can explain
the galactic spiral arms and luminosity.
