We present optical-to-mid-IR spectral energy distributions of a sample of 18 type 1 quasars at z 2 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We use SDSS, 2MASS and Spitzer/IRAC photometry along with our observations of low-resolution Spitzer/IRS spectra. To first order, the spectra can be characterized as smooth power-laws in the rest-frame 3--8 micron range. In addition, we find two prominent features in most spectra, "bumps" peaking at 3 microns and 10 microns. We identify the former with thermal emission from dust close to sublimation temperature ( 1400K). We identify the latter with the 10 micron silicate emission feature. There is a variety in the 10 micron feature strengths and in 3 out of 18 objects we find evidence for self-absorption along with steeper 1--8 micron continua. The spectra can be grouped according to their 3 micron flux densities, this allows us to compare the power emitted in the mid-IR by dust re-emission against that observed directly in the optical/UV with SDSS spectra. We also present models of clumpy tori that best fit the mid-IR spectra. We find that models with compact tori, a small number of dusty clouds, and opening angles less than 45 deg. are preferred in most cases.
