It is strongly debated whether the majority of QSO host galaxies are the result of relatively recent mergers or whether they are completely analogous to inactive ellipticals. To address this question, Bennert et al. (2008) investigated five QSO host galaxies, from a larger sample, that were classified as ellipticals. This pilot study showed striking signs of tidal interactions such as ripples, tidal tails, and warped disks that were not detected in previous studies. Those observations revealed that at least some `elliptical' QSO host galaxies are the products of relatively recent merger events rather than old galaxies formed at high redshift. However, questions remain. Are the host galaxies of classic QS0s truly distinct from inactive ellipticals and is there a connection between the merger events and the current nuclear activity? To address these questions and place these previous results into a statistically significant context, we present here the remainder of our QSO host sample.
