We present and discuss Spitzer and near-infrared H2 observations of a bi-polar protostellar outflow in the Rosette Molecular Cloud. The outflow is seen in all four IRAC bands and partially in the MIP 24 micron band. A dark cloud seen in absorption in the 8 micron image bisects the outflow and contains an embedded Class 0 object that appears to be the outflow source. Near-infrared narrow-band H2 observations were obtained using the Infrared Side Port Imager (ISPI) on the CTIO 4 meter telescope.
Spitzer IRAC color analysis of the shocked emission was performed from which thermal and density maps of the outflow were constructed. We use these data and maps to probe the physical conditions and structure of the flow.
This work is based in part on archival data obtained with the Spitzer Space Telescope, which is operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology under a contract with NASA. Support for this work was provided by an award issued by JPL/Caltech, NASA LTSA Grant NNG05GD66G, and the Florida Space Grant Consortium
