Film materials have found wide applications for spacecrafts coatings. Under complex environmental conditions of free space the characteristics of outside surfaces of film materials can essentially change in the long-term operation of spacecrafts, which can result abnormalities in spacecrafts' functioning. In this connection preliminary ground testing of degradation effects in film materials characteristics seems to be advisable. These investigations have been underway on special test facility KOBE, which allows to simulate a complex of space factors acting on outside surfaces of spacecraft. In the initial phases of these investigations, changes in optical characteristics were studied and tested using different foil samples subjected to effects of a special complex of space-related factors including vacuum and irradiation by electrons and protons at ambient temperature. Preliminary results of recent studies with simultaneous effects of vacuum, bombardment by electrons and protons as well as vacuum ultraviolet radiation in heat sink environment at the temperature of liquid nitrogen on optical characteristics of foil samples have been presented.
