An intense monitoring campaign was performed by the Swift satellite during the most recent active phase of RS Ophiuchi, starting 3.17 days after the discovery of the outburst. The spectrum clearly evolves over time as the nuclear burning on the surface of the white dwarf continues and then switches off, with the luminosity of the `plateau' phase (between ˜ days 45-58 after the outburst) being around the Eddington value for a ˜ 1.3M_{&sun;} white dwarf. Simplified blackbody models have been used for the parameterisation of the super-soft source emission, finding that the temperature increases slightly during the super-soft state - until the end of nuclear burning - at which point the white dwarf atmosphere cools at a constant radius.
