Theoretically it remains unclear whether systems such as RS Ophiuchi are
able to produce SN Ia explosions. Two new lines of observational
evidence seem to be in favour of other binary systems with red-giant
donor stars having produced SN Ia explosions. Here we look at that work
in the context of RS Ophiuchi.
