We present an analysis of the Kepler light curve of the previously discovered transiting planet HAT-P-7b. We model the light curve and derive improved planet and orbit parameters. We include the effects of the gravitationally distorted stellar surface that create ellipsoidal variations. The ellipsoidal variations contribute to the Kepler optical light curve and can confuse interpretation of the planetary phase curve if not self-consistently included in the modeling. Kepler was selected as the 10th mission of the Discovery Program. Funding for this mission is provided by NASA, Science Mission Directorate.
