Current cosmology analyses with SNe Ia standardize their luminosity distance measurements using corrections for light curve shape and color, achieving accuracies of 8 - 10%. We present a variety of alternative methods based upon spectral measurements. These include Flux Ratios, which can standardize distances to 6% using only near-max spectra, and Excess Local Flux, a new generalization of pseudo-equivalent widths. These methods were developed using a training sample of SNfactory observations of smooth Hubble flow SNe Ia and validated using a separate sample of SNfactory observations. Spectral metrics compliment traditional standardization methods by providing equivalent or better standardization power while having different measurement systematics. They also provide new indications of the relationship between SN Ia luminosities and their underlying physical processes.
