We compute spectral hardness ratios for a sample of four intense gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) observed with Swift's Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) and X-ray Telescope (XRT) to study their evolution in a color-color diagram. Using the instrument spectral response functions, we calculate the total photons in four narrow energy bands for the XRT and for the BAT. We plot the ratios of the hard colors versus the soft colors for each instrument energy range and using the combined BAT and XRT data. Here we present these color-color diagrams and our conclusions on characterizing the GRB spectral properties and evolution.
This study is funded by a NASA Graduate Student Researchers Program fellowship.
