Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) were long believed to be a homogeneous class. With high-quality data, though, it became apparent that not all SNe Ia are the same. Techniques have been developed to calibrate SNe based upon their photometric behavior, with most SNe Ia fitting a general distribution in light-curve shape. With a large sample of spectroscopic data, one can explore the diversity of SNe Ia and the correlation of spectroscopic features with light curve shape. Using a large sample (over 200 spectra of 31 SNe Ia), I will discuss the diversity among SNe Ia, and how some of these differences relate to photometric behavior. Some spectroscopic differences seem uncorrelated with light-curve shape, implying that subtle effects where the spectrum is formed may be unrelated to the differences in the underlying explosion mechanism that are reflected in the light-curve shape.
