Young rotation-powered pulsars have interesting intrinsic properties and provide insight into the formation and evolution of neutron stars. In some cases, these pulsars are associated with nebulae powered by the pulsar wind, and they can emit radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, allowing a means of studying the pulsar and its immediate surroundings. Many recently discovered young pulsars were first found as X-ray sources, suggesting that X-rays can provide an important clue to the presence of such pulsars. The Magellanic Clouds are a particularly fertile ground for searches of young pulsars. Recently, Chandra observations have revealed a distinct unresolved X-ray source (denoted CXOU J004719.7-730823) in the complex LH-alpha 115-N19 in the Small Magellanic Cloud. We propose a multi-frequency search of this source using three separate 6-hour observations. Two of the observations will be performed with the central beam of the 20-cm multibeam receiver and high-resolution filterbank. This will provide an order of magnitude improvement in sensitivity over existing observations to short-period pulsations. The third observation will be carried out with the 10/50 receiver. Our total time request is 18 hr.
