Published data on chemical-element abundances in the atmospheres of main-sequence stars (spectral types B through G) are analyzed. It is found that the relative abundance of iron-group elements with respect to the iron abundance itself remains constant over the entire range of chemical compositions and that the abundances of lighter and heavier elements have a power-law dependence on iron abundance. These characteristics are shown to impose constraints on the physical conditions under which heavy elements are produced by nucleosynthesis.
