H-alpha absorption has been detected in the spectrum of the DB white dwarf LDS 785A (EG 153). The atmospheric helium-to-hydrogen ratio, by number, lies between 10,000 and 100,000. The importance of this value for theories of white dwarf accretion is stressed. The spectrum also shows the forbidden component of He I at 4517 A and an unidentified possible feature at 6635 A.
