Observations of Type II bursts on board the satellites Prognoz 1 and 2 at frequencies between 70 and 750 kHz are discussed. The mean rate of shock wave propagation is estimated for each individual observations during the period from May through August 1972. These estimates are obtained for two models of the electron concentration distribution in the solar corona.
