The problem of selecting the optimal moments of observation and the reference stars for use in autonomous astronomical measurements is analyzed on the basis of available results concerning the solution of the optimization problem for a large number of visible stars. A general method is proposed for solving the problem for various hypothetical correlations between the measurement errors. The method reduces to the modification of a simplex algorithm for solving linear or quadratic programming.
