A typical work day at ESO's Astronomical Station, built in a desert region in Chile is described, including the application procedure for observation time, the travel accommodations to Chile, and pictures of the living quarters. The ESO 1-m telescope, designed for photoelectric photometry, polarimetry, and IR observations, and the ESO Schmidt telescope with a traveling observation platform are illustrated and described.
