Measurements made with the Cosmos machine on a deep photograph taken with the UK Schmidt Telescope have been used to examine the distribution of galaxies down to B of approximately 22.0 in a field of 15 sq deg near the South Galactic Pole. The mean multiplicity of galaxies is 3.6, in good agreement with analyses of the Lick and Jagellonian galaxy counts, indicating no strong evolutionary effect in the clustering of galaxies at least out to redshifts of 0.4-0.7.
