It is shown that fast particles near the earth's bow shock that are accelerated by shock compression while diffusing among magnetic scattering centers are expected to exhibit a particular composition-velocity relation: the composition as a function of energy per charge is roughly constant in that variable. This, and other predictions of the model are supported by recent ISEE and IMP observations.
