Exact isotropic cosmological models without singularities are constructed by exploiting a physically natural violation of the energy condition in the singularity theorems of Penrose, Hawking, and Geroch. This is accomplished with models containing incoherent radiation and pressureless matter coupled to a classical conformal massless scalar field in the same sense as the standard pion-nucleon coupling. All the equations governing the evolution of the models are solved exactly for all possible topologies of the universe. It is shown that singularities can be avoided for a certain range of model parameters and that this required range is physically appealing only for a closed universe.
