A method is proposed for verifying the interaction model first proposed by Baranov et al. (1970) in which the supersonic spherically symmetric solar wind is decelerated by a supersonic flux of ionized interstellar-gas particles. The method is based on observations of scintillations in the radio emission from pulsars and quasars as that emission encouters inhomogeneities in the interstellar medium in those regions where the interaction is taking place. It is shown that the scintillation index for a particular point source should be less than its usual value after the emission has traversed the interaction region and that interferometric measurements should be able to confirm this.
