Two sets of spectroscopic apparatus are photographed and schematically
diagrammed, and some of their results are presented. The first
spectroscope is used for the stars and planets; the second is applied to
the sun. The use of a reference star to evaluate the spectra of other
stars is discussed. Emphasis is on simplicity of means.
