The X-ray spectra of Seyfert 1 galaxies show a broad iron Kalpha line at 6.4keV with an extended red wing which, together with a hump in the continuum around 30keV indicates the presence of a reflected component on cold material. The peculiar profile of the line is generally interpreted as being due to a "relativistic" cold disk, i.e. extending down to a few gravitational radii from the central black hole. However there are presently some doubts on the line profile, which could be more symmetrical than previously found. Moreover line variability behavior is difficult to understand in the framework of this model. Another model is proposed, consisting in cold clouds embedded in a hot medium, where the broadening of the line would be due to multiple Compton scatterings.
