The SAC method is a semi-empirical method of analysing the emission lines of ions with a complicated spectrum like Fe+. In a common work with Mrs. D. Kotnik-Karuza, we applied the method to the symbiotic RR Tel. We were able to obtain information on the excitation temperature, non-LTE effects, the radius of the line formation region and the column density. All these results support formation of the emission lines in the wind of the cool giant component. It was possible to determine a minimum mass loss rate for this star.
