The propagation of Alfven waves in an inhomogeneous anisotropic plasma is studied. The reflection and transmission coefficients of Alfven waves at the contact discontinuity are obtained, and the dependence of the reflection and refraction laws on the degree of pressure anisotropy of the plasma is determined. It is shown that pressure anisotropy significantly influences the change in amplitude of an Alfven wave in a weakly inhomogeneous medium if the kinetic gas pressure is of the order of or greater than the magnetic field pressure. The properties are examined of Alfven waves in an isothermal atmosphere with a uniform gravitational field. Using the example of the lower chromosphere, it is shown that the decrease in amplitude of an upward-propagating wave will decrease faster as the difference in plasma pressure along and across the magnetic field becomes larger.
