In the frame of an ESO Large Programme devoted to the study of the most
primitive stars in our Galaxy ([Fe/H] < -2.8) we have been able to
measure for the first time the abundance of uranium in a star. Now, the
couple U/Th seems the best radioactive chronometer for dating the oldest
stars of the Galaxy.
