Ground-based optical interferometry has progressed in the last few years and an important amount of work of astrophysical importance has been reported in the litterature. The topics cover mainly the stellar domain because of a lack of sensitivity. In this presentation I report various examples of such astrophysical results obtained recently that demonstrate the power of this technique in the context of soon coming facilities like the VLTI or the Keck Interferometer with an improved sensitivity.
