We shall use the RFP to measure 2500 stellar velocities in three fields in the central regions of the Galaxy. These observations will be used to confirm or refute the presence of a bar in the Milky Way, and to estimate the shape of the bar. The fields are chosen to maximize the sensitivity to the bar's dynamical signature. In addition, the fields are part of the OGLE survey, and thus have precise astrometry and photometry available. Combining these observations with existing data will allow us to model the bar in detail and determine several of its key properties. (This proposal was granted time in 1996, 1997, and 1998; the 1996 run was completely clouded out; in 1997 we had 2 partially clear nights; in 1998 we had about 3 hours of partially clear weather. We now have about half of the observations needed to complete the project.)
