We have developed a radiative transfer code based on a Monte Carlo algorithm. This code solves the stationary transfer equation in a dusty medium and accounts for multi-scattering. Recent improvements allows to deal with strongly varying density laws representing the geometry of the envelope and huge opacities with significantly reduced Monte Carlo noise. In particular the code suits well to the study of late type star environments or the study of proto-planetary discs. Recent observations of the late type carbon star IRC+10216 (Tuthill et al., 2000, ApJ 543,284) shows the presence of clumpy structures in its dust envelopes. We have in project to couple the radiative transfer code with a dust formation code (Gauger et al., 1990, A&A 235, 345) in order to study the phenomenons responsible for the apparition of dust clouds and their consequences on the dynamics of the stellar wind.
