Spherically symmetric equilibrium configurations of cold catalyzed matter are studied in the framework of the Einstein-Cartan theory of gravitation. The study is facilitated by the fact that, for a simple situation such as a spherically symmetric arrangement, the Einstein-Cartan equations take the same form as the Einstein equations. A qualitative analysis of superdense equilibrium configurations, together with exact models obtained by numerical computation, shows that no new stable families of superdense configurations exist in the Einstein-Cartan theory.
