The data presented in the present paper point to a possibly strong interaction between the solar wind and the tiny Martian satellite, Deimos. In particular, some data obtained with the probe Mars 5 on the ion component of the plasma can be interpreted only under the assumption of such an interaction. From these data, it appears that the interaction of Deimos with the solar wind has an appreciable effect on the characteristics of both the Martian magnetosphere and shock wave.
