An assessment is made of the influence of possible mathematical-expectation errors and errors in the covariance matrix of measurement errors on the mathematical square-error expectation in the evaluation of some orbital parameter by the method of least squares. The concept of stability of a precision characteristic under consideration is introduced, and the sufficient stability and instability conditions are formulated. Means are proposed for ensuring stability of a precision characteristic in the statistical evaluation of orbital parameters by the method of least squares, using an arbitrarily large number of measurements.
