Results of processing of photographs taken of the western lunar hemisphere by the Zond-8 lunar probe are reported. The topography of the far side was analyzed on the basis of limb images, with results confirming the earlier Zond-6 data. A depression on the far side comparable with some of the maria visible on the near side is observed, and a previously unknown crater may have been located in the environs of the south pole. The far-side SW depression is observed extending SE from its central portion. Data on heights on the limb profiles are improved. Progress toward global-scale cartography of lunar topography is acknowledged, and Apollo-15 data are included in the survey.
