Eclipsing Binary Stars, O Stars, Polarization Characteristics, Stellar Mass Ejection, Astronomical Models, Flow Geometry, Gas Streams, Light Scattering

Variable linear polarization in this O-star close binary has been found
to be accurately synchronous with the orbital motion over a span of 20
cycles. The polarization is explained by light scattered from a gas
stream. Our analysis indicates that the main scaterring region is on the
advancing side of the secondary star.
