MK spectral classes and radial velocities of 40 Algol-type eclipsing binaries, most of which have not been previously observed, are given. Estimates of the types of secondaries possible in these systems are made. Certain systems which appear about to evolve into a mass-transfer phase are identified. One variable (V435 Cyg) is shown to be a possible member of the Cygnus OB1 association.
