Evidence of an iron abundance gradient in hot gas in the Virgo cluster of galaxies is reported. Iron is centrally concentrated, indicating that gas at the cluster core has been enriched by galactic mass loss. The results demonstrate that spatially resolved iron-line spectroscopy is necessary to investigate the origin and evolution of the intracluster gas.
