The authors examine some of the implications for V1343 Aql (also known as SS433) from the recent detection of two γ-ray lines. They show that the γ-ray spectrum suggests excitation energies of a large fraction of an MeV. Two basic mechanisms of γ-ray production are considered, one involving inelastic excitation of 24Mg, and the other, proton radiative capture on 14N. Consideration of the energy production from the resulting models strongly favors the latter mechanism.
