H band (1.65 microns) observations of 10 Cepheids in the galaxy IC 1613 have been obtained. The slope of the period-luminosity relation is consistent with those found for the Galaxy, the Magellanic Clouds, and NGC 6822 and is in disagreement with the slope of the optical relation. A distance modulus (m - M) = 24.31 (+ or - 0.12) is derived, assuming a foreground reddening of 0.03 mag.
