Several studies of systematic errors in the Zwicky magnitude scale are reexamined for the magnitude range +14.0 ≤ mz ≤ +15.7. If deviations from a 0.6-mag power law in the number counts n(m) are interpreted as systematic errors in the magnitude scale, then the discreptant results of previous reports can be understood as sample selection biases, primarily because of the anomalous behavior of Vol. I of the Zwicky catalog. If systematic errors are removed from Zwicky magnitude scale according to the analysis of Kron and Shane (1976), the scale closely approaches that of a standard Pogson one, except for a possible increase in the brightness step for mz > +15.4. In this range of apparent magnitudes, use of Zwicky magnitudes after removal of the systematic errors introduces a scatter of 0.2 - 0.3 mag and systematic errors of less than half that amount.
