A new method is proposed for analyzing the n-point correlation functions. The method is applied to the three-, the four-, and (partially) to the five-point correlations in the Zwicky catalog. The amount of computation is substantially reduced, but this is at the expense of versatility. In particular, the assumption of a different model for the higher order correlation functions would require considerable modification of the formulas. Although the three-point function is clearly detected, the four-point function is close to the noise level. The results are compared with earlier derivations. Theoretical calculations are included for n = 4: a tentative estimate of the five-point function reveals that it is almost completely lost in the noise.
