From a comparison of ESO Grand Prisme Objectif astrograph plates taken in September 1990 with the Palomar Sky Survey from 1955, a nova was discovered at alpha of 15 h 07 m 31 s and delta of -1 deg 44 arcmin 01.6 arcsec. Its magnitudes in 1955 estimated from the Palomar plates are mB of 16.9 m and mR of 17 m. It was identified as a high-redshift (0.3) galaxy by spectroscopic means.
