Results are presented from a detailed multiwaveband study of the NGC 1705 galaxy, using data on optical spectroscopy, photoelectric aperture photometry, narrow-band and broad-band images, low-dispersion IUE spectra, and 21-cm H I spectra reported in the literature and data from the IRAS Point Source Catalog. It is shown that NGC 1705 is a 'nucleated' blue compact dwarf galaxy containing two stellar populations which are clearly delineated in structure and color. The inner high surface-brightness core population is the location of current cluster and high-mass star formation. The halo has an exponential distribution of light, which is suspected to be also a star forming population. The color difference between the two stellar populations is considered to be due to an age effect or to a difference in the initial mass function in populations.
