The large-scale structure of the Universe, including superclusters and empty areas, is reviewed, and theories accounting for it are examined. The possible cellular structure of the Universe, with the cell walls consisting of a thin layer of galaxies, and the inner spaces being the empty areas, is addressed. The results of computer simulations of the origins of galaxies are discussed, competing theories of supercluster origin are described, and observations that could decide between them are mentioned.
